Welcome to Eunoia Diaries, a brand new series designed by Eunoians, for Eunoians! In this first article, we take you through how to navigate our canteen like a pro.

Tip #1: Watch out for the post-lecture crowd

When the going gets tough, the tough get going - running, actually, to the canteen🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️. To begin our article, our first tip would be to take note of the lecture timings of the week, especially large lectures such as those of GP, Economics and Mathematics, as large lectures may bring long queues. 

As with anything in life, planning is necessary for maximum efficiency📝. Taking this timetable for example, map out when the canteen would be full, and determine your lunch time from there! 

Tip #2: Budget Meals

Running low on cash 💸? Our Malay stall has got you covered! Our brand new Malay stall has a budget meal option at $2.80. That’s a great price for a meal that consists of rice, meat (fish or chicken), vegetables, and a side dish. For the low price of $2.80, it's definitely a good deal. We hope this gets you through your broke era 😝😝

Tip #3: Beat the Rush: Pre-order Your Meals!

With jam-packed schedules and snaking queues 🐍, you might be wondering how you’d ever get your food on time before classes start. Well, fret not, EuOrder has just the solution for this! 

Using our new pre-order meal service, you can reserve your favourite dishes ahead of time, skip the wait, and enjoy a stress-free mealtime! However, since we are still a very new initiative, the pre-order will only be applicable for Stall 1 – Kebab & Salad and Stall 3 – Japanese & Korean.

Here’s what you need to know:

Easy Ordering: Browse the menu and select your favourite dishes straight from your device.

Convenience: Avoid long queues and enjoy a hassle-free lunch experience.

Daily Order Cut off Time: By 3pm

Next Day Collection Time: 11am or 1pm

Browse Menus: Check out the meal options.

Place Your Order: Choose your meal and make payment via Paynow. Upload proof of payment before submitting the order form.

Take Note: Remember the stall that you place your order from and your Invoice ID as this is required upon collection

Pick Up: Collect your pre-ordered lunch at your chosen time (either 11am or 1pm) from the designated collection point in the canteen.

Tip #4: Same Same But Different: Best Places to Sit

The canteen isn’t just a place to have meals, but where you’ll find Eunoians catching up on sleep and studies with their friends. With much to its name, it’s good to know that our canteen is built different. For the best place to lock in, make your way to the tables near the Audi which are less crowded and far from the hectic crowds. The lush greenery of Bishan Park provides a conducive environment for you to hit the books 📚 (or finish the tutorial due the next period). If you only have time for a quick bite, sit at the tables on either side of the canteen stalls. They’re also located closest to the main lift lobby, allowing you to get where you need to be quickly. Finally, if you’re looking for a place to hang out with friends, choose the swings beside the basketball courts or the round tables near the band room. These cosy spots are perfect for your uninterrupted yapping sessions! 😜

Tip #5: DON'T LEAVE YOUR FOOD ALONE!!!

If you think you will never get robbed in school, think again. The presence of birds🐦‍⬛ in our canteen is a common sight, and if you aren't careful, your plate may become our feathered friends’ next feast. Leaving your plates out in the open gives the birds an opening to swoop in and pick at your food, and the moment they do, it is no longer hygenic to consume it, leading to food wastage when you throw it away. Hence, always ensure that your food is never alone. If you are with your friends, have one stay at the table AT💥 ALL💥TIMES💥.
