Continuing our 2025 CCA Showcase, Part 2 turns the spotlight to Eunoia Junior College’s Performing Arts CCAs. In this installment, creativity takes centre stage as our students find a space to express themselves and experience the joy of showcasing their talents with like-minded peers.
This time, we're proud to present: Chamber Strings, Chinese Orchestra, Choir, Dance, Drama, Rock Band, Street Dance and Symphonic Band.
Chamber Strings
You’ve heard of string orchestras, ensembles, but have you heard of chamber strings? Well, we are Eunoia Chamber Strings! Originally a self initiated interest group turned CCA in recent years, we strive to share our passions for music in the form of both classical and pop music.
EJCS is a close knit community of like-minded musicians from diverse backgrounds. Every week, we come together, spending time with each other and practicing to prepare for and participate in music related events! We’ve had exchanges, collaborations, and annual concerts, where EJCS members get to share their passion with and alongside others! Beyond the practice rooms (or MEP rooms), we’ve gone out for concerts at local concert halls and had several more informal outings with our members. To add on, all batches have the chance to play batch pieces, customise the pieces they’d hope to play in the annual concert, one open to the public to showcase what EJCS has to offer — a great opportunity for our members to perform on stage and give it their all.

We also offer VIA opportunities, where we have been partnering with Street Dance to bring a music and dance programme to the children at Glyph. Through the experience, members are able to gain experience teaching and mentoring children, sharing their passion of music while collaborating and organising with street dance’s members.
When asked for one word that describes EJCS, responses have included, “enthusiastic”, “close-knit”, and one that holds a special place in their heart. As a CCA, we hope to have our music unite.
Beyond the realm of music, we make sure to sprinkle moments of laughter, often hopping on recent trends to shed light on the experiences we have. You might have seen our viral Instagram reel, or maybe even chanced across other videos our publicity head has organised. In EJCS, we don’t just value your music, we value you!
We hope that everyone will have a fruitful and very musical time over at EJCS, but most importantly, we hope our members emerge with unique experiences, memories, and more friends that they have made along the way. So if you’re looking for a balance of performance, practice and fun, then EJCS has the spot for you!
Chinese Orchestra

When the ambition I’ve held onto for years fell through, I entered JC feeling lost — uncertain of who I was without it. I didn’t know where my strengths belonged, or if they even mattered. Frankly, I joined EJCO out of comfort, not calling.
Although the Orientation buzz dies down, CO carries that spirit forward beyond the stage curtains. Even as an introvert, I found myself singing silly birthday songs and trying out mala with newfound friends. Looking back, I realised this was only made possible by its unique environment and culture.
Our sessions follow a simple rhythm — Sectionals on Wednesdays (3.30-6.30pm) and Combined on Fridays (4-7pm), There was no physical grind typical of Sports CCAs, yet enough pressure remained to spur everyone, including newcomers, towards perfection in even the tiniest details.
While workshops and exchanges with fellow students allow us to catch our breath, highlight events such as SYF and concerts pull us back into the stressful, sometimes suffocating pursuit of excellence alone.
Just a single note bears the weight of countless expectations. There are moments when our best efforts seem to barely inch us towards the bare minimum, and even that feels unattainable. Our ineptitude is on full display during practices, and it’s difficult not to cringe at your own sound. Yet, it is through these struggles that allow us to gradually accept that it’s okay to be bad at something, so long as we have the heart to enact change. This realisation is what makes it less daunting for members to seek help and confront their weaknesses head-on.
For me, using my experience to guide my sectionmates gave me an opportunity to experiment with teaching — a skill I'm admittedly not great at — which gave purpose to my time in EJC. And before I knew it, our collective drive to do better; to be better, is what formed the core of meaningful bonds and friendships.
Of course, this is not to say “CO gave me a Purpose, please join!”. Rather, it provided just enough pressure to build resilience, yet enough safety to reflect on past failures and grow into who we want to become.
CCA is ultimately what you make it to be, and hinges on your desire to grow as a person. If you so choose, it would be an honour for us to be a part of your journey to find a purpose of your own.
Choir

The Eunoia Choir is a welcoming community built on warmth, resilience, shared passion, for choral music and the joy of creating music together. If you think that choir is only about singing, very quickly, you will learn that it is far more than that — it is about the people you sing with.
Our regular practices take place every Tuesday and Friday, from 5 to 7.30 PM, usually in the MEP rooms or the LT. Our sessions typically begin with vocal warm-ups and technique training by our conductor, Ms Lim, followed by sectionals where the music comm will guide you through your voice part. Afterwards, we will have combined sectionals and combined choir practices, led by the student conductor or Ms Lim herself. While we work hard together to learn our respective parts and blend with each other, our weekly sessions are also filled with inside jokes and teases, which makes choir a safe space for us to unwind, learn and grow together. Don’t worry if you have no prior choir or music experiences! Although that is encouraged, what is the most important is your passion for singing :))
Beyond regular CCA practices, we also enjoy an enriching experience through choir camps and exchanges during the holidays. You can look forward to master classes by professional conductors from other countries, which usually occurs once to twice a year. In March, we would have an internal choir camp for the J1s and J2s to get to know each other, forging bonds through fun games and songs. Another highlight would be our annual choir camp at the end of the year with other choirs such as rioHC (Hwa Chong Institution Choir). These sessions give us the chance to learn from different choristers, enjoy music, and most importantly, forge new friendships outside of school. There will be bonding games and activities planned by the EXCO, section lunch, as well as an end-of-year concert which you can invite your friends and family to attend.
Performance is a core part of our choir journey. Besides the biennial Singapore Youth Festival (SYF), Eunoia Choir has also participated in local and international competitions like the Singapore International Choral Festival (SICF) that challenges us to grow and improve. The preparation for these events are definitely hectic, but also fulfilling and meaningful, forming a key component of our #WhyEJChoir. Other than competitions, we have also attended several non-competitive performances, such as our guest performance at ONE Chamber Choir’s “The ONE Thing” concert, as well as the “Zechariah Goh: A Choral Odyssey” concert, both with the combined forces of us and rioHC.
If you love singing, and wish to find a heart-warming community where you can grow and learn with a lovely group of people, then what are you waiting for? Join Eunoia Choir now!
Dance

Beyond the mirrors and the synchronized counts of eight lies the true heartbeat of EJ Dance: a family bonded by a shared pulse. While our performances are what the world sees, it’s the hours of laughter in the studio and the unwavering support behind the curtains that truly define us. In EJD, we don't just learn to dance; we develop resilience and express ourselves through movement.
Our CCA sessions fall on Tuesdays from 430-730pm and Wednesdays from 4-7pm at the PAS. We usually start our sessions off with warmups and physical training for about 15 minutes, move on to set exercises and then finish off with short choreos by our instructors, Mr Dan and Ms Sophie. If we have upcoming performances, we would also take the time to work on our items. At the end of the day, we sometimes have journalling sessions led by our welfare IC, where we think about our progress over the past few sessions and how we feel. The last thing for every session is our EJD cheer and batch cheer created by ourselves to lift our spirits and celebrate our success for the day together :)
Throughout our time in EJD, we get plenty of opportunities to perform, both in school and beyond. These include school events such as Open house, CNY celebrations and our very own concert, as well as external performances like the biennial SYF and also JC Dance Collective. These performances allow us to showcase what we have been working on and express ourselves as a CCA. While preparation for these performances can be intense, it is incredibly rewarding, in the process strengthening our teamwork and bringing us closer together as a team.
Beyond technique and performance, EJD fosters a strong sense of camaraderie and encouragement. We grow together and celebrate one another’s progress, supporting each other through challenges. These make CCA sessions more meaningful and create memories that last beyond the stage!
If you enjoy moving, creating and growing with others who love to dance, come join us at EJD!
Drama

‘All the world’s a stage’: this quote is originally from Shakespeare’s As You Like It, but to EJDrama members, it’s more than that — it’s our motto! Here, we believe that understanding roles in relation to ourselves is a crucial part of performance. Beyond that, everyone has the freedom to express their creativity here from beginning to end, with our instructor further aiding us in the process whilst still leaving plenty of room for our own ideas. Whether you're a seasoned thespian, an aspiring stage technician, or fresh into the theatre scene, there's always a place for you to learn and grow!
CCA sessions are every Wednesday and Friday, 4-7pm in the auditorium (on the stage itself!). From rehearsing for our next performance, to undergoing training activities on useful theatrical skills (theatre genres, acting skills, drama concepts), to games and presentations for us to put those skills into practice — there’s always something new to be learnt! If there’s one thing we can guarantee, it’s that our sessions will never be dull.
In 2025, we had two major productions, the first being Exulansis, our original self-written and self-directed 90-minute show. The major roles were played by the seniors as it was their final production before stepping down. Yet, every single one of us still participated as actors or in tech — from assistant scriptwriting to costumes and props to light and sound — despite the majority of us coming in with zero experience.
Our 15-minute Racial Harmony Day short film, which was screened in every class as part of EJ’s CCE curriculum, gave us a unique opportunity for us to play around with narrative, acting choices, effects, editing, and even camera angles. Whereas your typical theatre production would be limited to practical effects and staging, we had the freedom to experiment in ways we hadn’t before, including exploring the differences between stage and screen acting.
For the incoming year, a highlight would be our participation in the Singapore Youth Festival. We’ve already got a script picked out, but further work will only resume shortly before we recruit our newest batch of members (that’s you guys :])! There will be plenty of opportunities for you to hone your artistic craft here.
At the end of the day, it’s our people’s shared passion and love for the craft that’s allowed Drama to be what it is today. Not just in the big shows, but also in the small moments of every rehearsal — our unique and tight-knit community is what makes EJDrama special, and we look forward to welcoming our newest members of the family soon!
Rock Band

Beyond the grandeur of the performances on stage (although really cool), Rock Band’s value lies in the journey of each musician towards that euphoric moment on stage. We are a small, closely-knit community, priding ourselves on performing great music to the EJ population (and beyond!) Rock Band is our second home, where we can be ourselves and share genuine connections with one another; where we strive to grow and learn together as performers, as friends, and as people.
We are always working towards our next performance, with in-school performances such as National Day, Open House, the great Annual Concert, as well as external performances the band is able to secure, with examples like Concert Etoile and Concert Livia as VIA projects that the band has been able to help with!
"An amazing performance is always a reflection of awesome amounts of practice.” Behind all of our performances lie strong dedication and practice from the entire band. To ensure we achieve exactly what we need during performances, practice is self-directed with the aid of Mr Toh, our instructor, and Mr Ooi, our teacher-in-charge. Mr Toh directs us musically, and Mr Ooi’s guidance and organisation skills truly makes him the calm in our chaos.
Practices take place every Thursday in MEP Studio 2, from 430pm to 730pm. From mics to amps and pedalboards, MEP2 has all the equipment you need!
As a CCA, we prioritise commitment, trust and growth amongst our members. These values shape our practices to be a safe space for all musicians to reach their full potential without fear, and without judgement. Being together as a band, you will have to be open to learning together with other members, because they are the ones whom you’ll be sharing the stage with! As such, we believe communication and collaboration to be essential traits that lie in all band members.
Your experience in Rock will not be defined by the number or the scale of performances you take part in. It will be defined by the moments of shared laughter, hours of practice, every second spent with the people you now call family. Defined by that euphoric moment on stage, when you finally realise that the journey spent with your band is what made every performance so special and fulfilling.
If you want to be a part of our family and experience this journey with us, join Rock!
Street Dance

EJC Street Dance (Elysium) is where passion meets purpose. If you have ever felt the pull of music, enjoyed moving to a beat, or wanted to express yourself in a way words can’t, Street is the place that turns that spark into something real. We focus on hip-hop foundations, techniques and performance training, helping dancers of all backgrounds grow into confident, dynamic performers. No matter your starting point, Street is built for people who are ready to try, learn and push themselves.
Our story began in 2017 as a small student-initiated interest group powered by people who simply loved dance. Their consistency and belief transformed Street into an official CCA three years ago, and every batch since has contributed to shaping the identity we are proud of today, passionate, hardworking, and deeply united
Our training sessions strike a balance between challenge and warmth. You will learn foundations that strengthen your technique, pick up choreography that stretches your creativity, and experience the rush of putting pieces together for performances. Along the way, you will learn discipline and teamwork.
Street dancers have taken part in school-wide performances, external competitions and our very own annual concerts, giving members multiple opportunities to shine on stage. Whether you dream of performing, competing, or simply improving as a dancer, you will find your place here, discovering that unforgettable feeling of performing something you poured your heart into. Every performance from school events to our annual showcase is a chance to express who we are as dancers and as a team.
Street isn’t just a CCA, it’s a family, a place where you will be seen, supported, and encouraged. The friendships formed during long rehearsals or post-training dinners become some of the most meaningful memories of JC life. Everyone grows at their own pace, but none of us grow alone.
Beyond the fixed choreography from our instructor, we often push to expand our growth as dancers, taking opportunities to choreograph our individual items.
If you want a CCA that challenges you, uplifts you, and gives you a space to be unapologetically yourself, EJC Street Dance is waiting for you. Join Street!
Symphonic Band

When you think about joining a CCA in JC, you might wonder: will this be worth my time? At EJCSB, we believe the answer is a resounding yes!! Here's why.
2025 has been a year of growth, resilience, and unforgettable memories for our band. We participated in this year's Singapore Youth Festival, a journey which allowed us to hone our musicianship and learn from one another. The countless hours we spent perfecting our craft together. The late-night sectionals where we pushed each other to improve. The moments when a difficult passage finally clicked into place. This year taught us something valuable: music becomes meaningful when you're creating it alongside people who care just as much as you do.
Our March holiday band camp became a turning point for many of us. Beyond the intensive practice sessions, we forged friendships that extended far beyond the band room. The laughter during icebreakers, the encouragement during challenging rehearsals, and the quiet moments of shared understanding created bonds that make coming to practice something we genuinely look forward to. Our band dinners - whether within sections or as a full ensemble - have become cherished traditions where we celebrate not just our musical achievements, but each other.
What makes our band special is our motto: "Always on a high note." This means approaching every rehearsal, every performance, and every challenge with the determination to give our best and leave with no regrets. We find joy in the process and support each other through the difficulties. When you play alongside bandmates who share this mindset, every note becomes more meaningful.
If you're considering joining us, know that you'll be learning more than just how to play an instrument. You'll be joining a family that values growth, celebrates effort, and believes that the journey matters just as much as the destination.
So, come make music with us! Speak to any of our members or attend our CCA showcase to learn more! Just remember, we will always end on a high note. :)
